Today’s statewide call in day is our last chance this year to improve Virginia’s commitment to energy efficiency! Don’t miss out!
Governor Kaine’s recent amendments to Senate Bill 1248 and House Bill 2506 are important steps to further strengthen Virginia’s energy efficiency.
Today activists from across Virginia are calling their delegates to urge them to support the amendments. Will you join them?
You can find the number for your delegate here: http://conview.state.va.us/whosmy.nsf/main?openform. Don’t forget to call their DISTRICT office.
A sample call script is included at the bottom of this page.
Through efficiency, we have an extraordinary opportunity to boost Virginia’s economy, lower electricity rates, and avoid the need to build costly and polluting power plants for years to come. Thanks to all your work this session, we have taken strides to improve energy efficiency in Virginia but we have a chance today to accomplish even more!
SCRIPT:
Hello, my name is _________ . I live in _______ and I’m a constituent.
I’d like to leave a message for Delegate _______ about supporting the Governor’s amendments to HB 2506 and SB 1248.
I would like Delegate ____ to support governor Kaine’s amendment to include a 19% target in Senate Bill 1248, Senator Northam’s bill that addresses energy efficiency. The target will give utilities the goal of meeting 19% of our energy needs with efficiency by 2025, a goal recommended by Virginia’s Climate Change Commission.
I also urge Delegate ____ to support the Governor’s amendments to House Bill 2506, which further strengthens Virginia’s commitment to cost-effective energy efficiency programs.
Through efficiency, we have an extraordinary opportunity to boost Virginia’s economy, lower electricity rates, and avoid the need to build costly and polluting power plants for years to come.
Thank you.
