New EPA smog limits could dictate cuts in Hampton Roads car emissions

The tightening up of ground level ozone standards by the EPA in order to avoid over 5,000 premature deaths by 2020 could mean serious cuts in Hampton Roads car emissions as well as cuts in other sectors of industry that contribute to smog and ozone. You can read the Daily Press Article Here.

Its hard to believe that the downwind communities of Hampton Roads will stand a 1500 megawatt coal plant (proposed by ODEC in Surry County) contributing to ozone and smog in the region, while working feverishly to meet standards that the DEQ has already said will be a challenge.
